“Tenebrae” Good Friday

The Tenebrae, meaning “darkness” or “shadows,” dates from medieval times. Tenebrae was originally a series of sung services in monastic communities constituting morning and evening prayer, held daily Wednesday through Saturday of Holy Week.

In our Good Friday observance in Alplaus, scripture, song, and silence lead us in a prolonged meditation on the events of salvation following the Last Supper through the entombment of Christ.

With each progressive step of the Passion, the candles are extinguished until only the one Christ candle remains. It, too, will be removed. What will happen next?

Easter Morning Sunrise at 7:30am

This short, simple, indoor service will include Holy Communion (gluten free available) and will focus on the earliest account of Easter found in the Gospel of Mark. We will pray, ponder and proclaim the new thing God has done as discovered by Mary and the women who first went to the tomb.

Easter Breakfast at 8am

This is a free will breakfast with pancakes, scrambled egg, breakfast sausages and bacon. Gluten Free pancakes will be available.

Easter Service after Breakfast at 10:15am

This is a traditional Easter Morning service - complete with the joyous Alleluias and Holy Communion (gluten free available). We will read from the Gospel of John and, like Mary, find new ways of recognizing and praising the risen Lord.

All are welcome!
